In World War 2, several of these T-35s were sent to the Battle of Brody, considered by some historians the greatest tank battle of the war, but none of those T-35s returned home… When the T-35 was conceived, it was to become the only heavy tank ever built with five turrets. It was with this goal in mind that the Soviet Union launched a project to develop a multi-turreted heavy tank so large at the time that it would be likened to the equivalent of a naval battleship for the land. At the time, it was believed that the future of military conflicts lay with these machines, with the superpowers striving to have the biggest and most powerful on their side. The 1920s and 30s were marked by the military development of super tanks.
